WANDER — COMMUNITY GUIDELINES

Last updated: 2 September 2026
Discover more. Share more. Respect more.

Wander is built for people who love getting out, discovering new places and sharing their experiences.

Whether you're recommending a hidden gem, posting a photograph, reviewing somewhere you've visited or simply chatting with other Wander users, we want Wander to be a welcoming place for everyone.

These Community Guidelines explain what we expect from our community and what may happen when these standards aren't followed.

1. Be respectful

Treat other people the way you'd expect to be treated.

You can disagree with someone. You can dislike a place. You can have a different opinion.

What isn't acceptable is using Wander to:

Disagreement is allowed. Abuse isn't.

2. Hate and discrimination

Wander does not tolerate content that attacks, threatens or dehumanises people because of characteristics such as their race, nationality, ethnicity, religion, disability, sex, sexual orientation or other protected characteristics.

You must not use Wander to promote hatred, discrimination or violence against individuals or groups.

We may remove content or restrict accounts where this occurs.

3. Keep Wander free from threats and violence

Do not use Wander to:

Content that presents an immediate or serious threat may be removed without warning and may be reported to the appropriate authorities where we are legally required or permitted to do so.

4. No gangs or criminal organisations

Wander is an independent discovery platform.

It is not a platform for gangs, criminal organisations or organised criminal activity.

You must not use Wander to:

This does not mean that legitimate discussion about crime, local history or other subjects involving criminal organisations is prohibited.

Context matters.

5. Politics

Wander is politically independent.

Wander is not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated on behalf of any UK political party.

Users are not prohibited from expressing political opinions, provided those opinions comply with these Community Guidelines and our Terms of Service.

Political disagreement is allowed.

Harassment, threats, hate speech, incitement to violence or targeted abuse are not.

Wander does not endorse political opinions expressed by its users.

6. Profanity and offensive language

People sometimes swear. We understand that.

Wander uses automated systems designed to identify certain profanity and potentially offensive language. Depending on the circumstances, words may be automatically censored, restricted or flagged.

However, profanity detection is not perfect.

Some words may be missed, while legitimate uses of words may occasionally be incorrectly identified.

Using a swear word does not automatically mean that your account will be banned.

Context matters.

However, repeated abusive, threatening, hateful or targeted language may result in content being removed or further action being taken.

7. Don't spam

Wander is for genuine interaction and discovery.

Don't use Wander to:

We may remove spam and restrict accounts that repeatedly engage in it.

8. Don't deliberately mislead people

Wander relies on its community to help keep information useful.

Don't deliberately provide false or misleading information intended to deceive other users.

This includes deliberately misleading users about:

We recognise that people can make genuine mistakes.

If you notice something that is incorrect, report it rather than attacking the person who posted it.

9. Reviews and recommendations

We want reviews and recommendations to reflect genuine experiences.

You should not:

You are allowed to have a negative experience and explain it honestly.

You don't have to like somewhere to talk about it.

10. Respect local places and communities

Wander is about exploring.

Exploring responsibly matters just as much as exploring itself.

When visiting somewhere discovered through Wander:

A hidden gem isn't worth ruining.

11. Safety

Wander may contain information about walks, beaches, outdoor activities, attractions and other places.

Information can change.

Users should make their own decisions about whether somewhere is safe and suitable for them.

When sharing information about potentially hazardous locations or activities, don't deliberately encourage dangerous behaviour.

Don't encourage people to:

Wander is not a substitute for official safety information.

12. Photos and videos

Only upload photographs, videos or other media that you have the right to share.

Don't upload somebody else's copyrighted photograph simply because you found it online.

Don't upload images intended to harass, embarrass or intimidate another person.

You should also consider the privacy of people appearing in photographs before uploading them.

If you believe an image displayed on Wander infringes your copyright or other rights, please report it to us.

13. Privacy

Don't share somebody else's private or personal information without their permission.

This includes things such as:

Do not use Wander to encourage others to locate, contact or target somebody against their wishes.

14. Sexual and inappropriate content

Wander is a general-audience discovery platform.

Do not use Wander to post sexually explicit or pornographic content.

Content involving sexual exploitation, sexual abuse or the sexual exploitation of minors is strictly prohibited.

Any content involving the sexual exploitation or abuse of children will be treated as an extremely serious matter and may be reported to the appropriate authorities.

15. Illegal activity

Don't use Wander to facilitate, organise or promote illegal activity.

This includes using the platform to:

Legitimate discussion about crime, law, history or current events is not automatically prohibited.

Context matters.

16. Impersonation

Don't pretend to be somebody else.

You must not impersonate:

Parody and obvious satire may be permitted where it is not reasonably likely to deceive people.

17. Don't manipulate Wander

Wander should be a genuine community.

Do not attempt to manipulate the platform through:

If you discover a security vulnerability or significant technical issue, please report it to us rather than attempting to exploit it.

18. Reporting problems

If you see something that doesn't belong on Wander, report it.

Depending on the feature, you may be able to report:

Please use reports responsibly.

Do not make deliberately false reports in order to harass, silence or punish another user.

19. How moderation works

Wander uses a combination of automated systems and human review to help keep the platform safe.

Automated systems may identify profanity, potentially harmful content or other behaviour that may require review.

These systems are not perfect.

We may therefore consider:

Depending on the circumstances, we may:

Serious violations may result in immediate action.

20. We don't promise that we'll get every decision right

Moderation at scale is difficult.

Automated systems can make mistakes. Human reviewers can also make mistakes.

If you believe Wander has incorrectly removed content, restricted your account or taken another moderation action against you, you may contact us through the appropriate support or appeal mechanism provided by Wander.

We will review appeals where an appeal mechanism is available and appropriate.

21. Repeat violations

Repeated violations of these Guidelines may result in progressively stronger enforcement.

However, we may take immediate action for particularly serious behaviour.

Creating another account to avoid a suspension or ban may result in the new account also being restricted or removed.

22. Protecting the Wander community

Our priority is maintaining a community where people can discover places, share experiences and participate without being subjected to abuse or harmful behaviour.

We may take action against behaviour that:

We may also take action where behaviour falls outside a specific example in these Guidelines but is clearly inconsistent with the purpose and safety of the Wander community.

23. Independent and politically neutral

Wander is independently operated.

Wander has no political association with any UK political party.

Wander does not represent the political views of its users.

The presence of political discussion or opinions on Wander does not mean that Wander endorses those opinions.

Similarly, the presence of information about a political organisation, public figure, business or other organisation does not necessarily represent an endorsement or affiliation.

24. Our approach

We don't want Wander to feel like a heavily moderated corporate platform where people are afraid to speak.

We want people to be able to:

Explore. Share. Recommend. Review. Discuss. Disagree. Have fun.

But that freedom comes with responsibility.

Be a decent human being.

Respect the places you visit.

Respect the people who live there.

Respect the people you meet on Wander.

And if something isn't right, report it rather than making the situation worse.

25. Changes to these Guidelines

We may update these Community Guidelines as Wander develops.

If significant changes are made, we may notify users through the App or other appropriate means.

The latest version will be made available through Wander.

26. Questions or concerns

If you have concerns about content, another user's behaviour, moderation or these Community Guidelines, please use the reporting and support features available within Wander.

For copyright or other legal concerns, please provide enough information for us to properly investigate the matter.

Thank you for helping make Wander a positive place to explore.
