What is Wander
How a day out in Northern Ireland comes together.
Wander is for finding somewhere to go in Northern Ireland, rather than scrolling a list of famous landmarks. The discovery feed shows places near you, and the map puts them on the coast, in town, or down a side road. When a few belong in the same day, the trip planner collects them onto a board you can keep private, share with friends, or submit for review as a public collection.
Places cover cafes, hikes, beaches, dog-friendly spots, family days, date ideas, and tourist stops. You can filter by free or paid entry, parking, toilets, pram access, and wheelchair access. Opening hours show whether a place is open, closing soon, or closed.
Save a place for later on a wishlist. When you are there, open it and mark it visited. If you are 16 or over, add a star rating; a comment and photos are optional. Friends who follow you back see the check-in, and the visit is kept as a stamp. The Android app is free on Google Play, and the web app uses the same account.
Explore Northern Ireland by area
The same feed and map cover the coast, the city, and the quieter hills. Each area lends itself to a different kind of day.
Causeway Coast
The north coast is cliffs, harbours, and long views. Look for coastal walks, beaches, and a cafe for when the weather turns. A day-trip board fits naturally: a morning path, lunch, and one more stop. Parking and opening hours matter, because many places sit in small villages.
Mourne Mountains
South Down is walking country. Filter for hikes to find forest paths, tracks, and viewpoints, then somewhere to eat afterwards. Family, dog-friendly, toilet, and parking filters help when you are out for more than a quick look.
Belfast
Belfast is the fullest part of the map: cafes, date ideas, family days, and smaller spots off the main streets. Use the feed when you are already in the city, or the map for somewhere within a short walk. A wishlist holds what will not fit in one afternoon.
Fermanagh lakes
Fermanagh is water, woodland, and quieter roads, with lakeside walks and small towns further apart than in Belfast. A trip board helps you line up a morning stop and an afternoon one. Check opening hours if the stop is a house, a garden, or a cafe.
Sperrins
The Sperrins are open hills between the north coast and the west. Hikes and viewpoints suit a slower day, with a coffee in the nearest town and a check-in once you are there. Family and dog-friendly filters narrow the paths before you leave.

Short answers from how the app actually works.
Is Wander free?
Yes. The Android app and the web app are free. There is nothing to pay to browse places, use the map, plan a trip, or check in. Some places charge their own entry fee. Wander marks those as paid so you can filter them out.
Which devices can I use?
Wander is on Google Play for Android. You can also open the web app in a phone or computer browser. It is the same Wander account.
Can I suggest a place?
Yes. In the app, send a place from the suggestion form. You can also use the contact page on this site and choose suggest a location. Suggestions are reviewed before they are added.
How do check-ins work?
Open a place and tap Visited, or Check In Again if you have been before. If you are 16 or over, Wander asks for a star rating. A comment and photos are optional. The visit is saved to your travel history. Check-ins are shared with people you follow back, and you can see friends' check-ins on the Friends tab.
